Target Participants
The project is to expose the management of BQ in Aceh to real cooperatives, secondary structures of saving and credit cooperatives and how they operate, especially through learning from secondary structures of another country. This project aims to improve the supply of the poor and low income households with financial services through rural bank and other selected mircofinance institutions in order to strengthen and support micro and small enterprises.
The participants are managers and board members of Baitul Quirat (BQ) in B.A, A.B. and Aceh Utara
Objectives.
The exposure program aims to:
• learn about islamic banking products, effective management and governance, operational
.. efficiency; lending on "soft" collaterals and profit orientation through visits to similar
.. institutions in Malaysia
• see the various kinds of existing Secondary structures and their services provided to
.. primaries, and learn about its organizational structures
• learn about the interaction, policies and concerns addressed by Secondary structures
• provide an opportunity to the participants to get acquainted with various secondary
.. structures in one province.
Contents
For Group I participants:
• Visits to BQ similar institutions and exposure to financial products, accounting and
.. monitoring in the respective institutions in Malaysia.
• Open discussions between participants on how to utilize lessons for future BQ policy
.. and work
For Group II participants:
• Visits to secondary structures, its history, issues and troubles it overcame, exposure to its
.. tasks including interaction and supervision/auditing of primary cooperatives, monitoring
.. and reporting
Methods
• Visiting similar Secondary structures in other provinces in order to understand
.. more deeply its nature , different roles and functions
• Reports will be submitted by participants after the trip in order to impart their experience
.. and acquired knowledge on the benefits of the secondary structures to their colleagues
.. and board members and eventually submit reports of the exposure trip to GTZ
• Develop new and demand – driven BQ products to be implemented with support of
.. their secondary structure
