Peace and non-violent forms of dealing with conflict have engendered the interest of many individuals and organizations in development work worldwide. Inspired by this expanding peace-building endeavor, InWEnt initiated a series of programs that explored conflict management and conflict transformation methodologies in the different levels and sectors of society.
For Indonesia, Philippines, and Thailand. Participants should be from institutions that experience or have to deal with a certain conflict in their daily activities. The program targets management staff of local government units, NGOs, private businesses, members of the academe and various organisations working with conflict resolution and peace building. This year the special focus will be on the conflict regions in each country.
Objectives. At the end of the seminar, the participants will be able to:
• Understand the nature, types, origin and sources of conflict;
• Increase their awareness of the economic, political and social conflicts that exists in their
.. country;
• Analyze conflicts using different Conflict Analysis tools;
• Identify the different approaches to conflict resolution and conflict transformation;
• Assess their own conflict management style;
• Transform conflict situations into possible areas for growth and opportunity;
• Develop communication, negotiation and mediation skills;
• Map out re-entry plans and sustainable peace building strategies that can be done in their
.. family, work and social context so they can be active and responsible citizens in their
.. country, individually and collectively.
Methods. There will be lectures, case study reading, open forum and a panel discussion during which people who are experienced in working with conflict report about their personal way of dealing with conflict.
