A Program to foster cooperation and trade relationship between the Philippines and EU member states through the reduction, if not elimination of hazards/risks in Philippine food production from sourcing of raw materials to production for and distribution to local and international end consumers – in the European Union.
The Project is for:
1. At least ten (10) HACCP-certified pilot Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) exporting or
... intending to export food products to EU member states to be certified or aligned to Food
... Safety Management Systems (ISO 22000) using EU best practices as reference.
2. 300 SMEs in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao who are exporting or intending to export to EU
... member states will be targeted for awareness seminars and focus group discussions on
... ISO 22000 with special concentration on EU quality and safety requirements and best
... practices.
3. At least five (5) Philippine Trainers who will undergo training in ISO 22000 and assist the
... EU consultant.
The Project aims to:
1. Encourage selected SMEs that are HACCP certified or implementing HACCP to align their
... production system to ISO22000 taking into consideration EU best practices and directives;
2. Enable compliance of pilot SMEs to attain optimal level of food safety;
3. Train Philippine counterparts on ISO 22000 to assist EU consultants during the firm level

4. Increase the international competitiveness of Philippine manufactured food products
... especially in the EU market;
5. Develop a computer based training programme (CBT) that contributes to sustain EU
... food safety requirements compliance; and
6. Facilitate dissemination of information and awareness on food safety.
