The regionalization of economic development is a central aspect within the national economic policies of the countries mentioned above. Many times, however, the successful implementation of a project promoting regional econo-mic development fails because of a lack of technical experts. Regar-ding this, the main objective of the training programme is to introduce executives to the most important concepts and instruments of economic development. This kind of training will enable them to successfully apply their knowledge, implement projects according to the specific conditions in their home countries and to lead other parties involved to a common strategy promoting a sustainable economic development.
The programme consists of a series of
modules, which take place in the participants' home countries as well as in Germany. |

This combination makes it easier for the participants to transfer their knowledge gained in Germany to the specific situations in their home countries and to apply it successfully on a regional level. In the beginning, a preparatory course makes the local conditions more transparent to the participants in the respective project regions. Furthermore, the participants' superiors and colleagues are already involved in this early stage of the project, and a close connection to the local GTZ - activities shall be established.
The module which takes place in Germany contains the theoretical training, a study tour and teamwork-tasks in order to develop project ideas which shall be realized by the participants after returning to their home countries.
The programme especially focuses on those tools that are necessary to initiate, coordinate and present the specific processes which are crucial regarding the promotion of economic development.
Immediately after the participants' return to their home countries, regional conferences are held with the superiors and colleagues of the participant as well as other parties involved in the projects. These conferences offer a chance to the participants to increase the acceptance of their suggestions.
Furthermore, a follow up-workshop takes place six months after the participants' return to their home countries. This workshop helps to evaluate the outcome of the programme and offers further consultancy for the realization of the agreed participants' projects.
The internet platform "Global Campus 21“ which was set up by InWEnt is available to the participants during the programme and afterwards too. This website offers a forum to establish and keep up contacts as well as to exchange information and experiences.
Both InWEnt and GTZ as German institutions for international cooperation offer technical and professional training assistance to Indonesia, the Philippines and Vietnam. These countries definitely decided to orientate towards a more balanced regional economic development. Within the German joined-up development policy GTZ and InWEnt agreed to complement project assistance in selected regions of the partner countries. Thus, the costs of this training programme will be shouldered by GTZ and InWEnt
